This is the piece that started the shop. My oldest was about to start kindergarten and I wanted something to document that morning properly, so I designed one, thinking a few other moms might like them too. The orders have not really stopped since — it is still the thing I make most in August.

Reusable, on purpose
The fields are dry erase. Buyers report filling them in with a marker and wiping them clean without staining, so the same board covers every year from pre-K onward rather than being replaced annually.
Sized for the photo, not the child
Big enough to read in a picture, small and light enough that a five-year-old can hold it up on their own without it hiding them.
Interchangeable pieces
The name and the grade swap out, so one board works across siblings and across years.
First day or last
The same board does the end-of-year photo too, which is where most of the side-by-side comparison shots come from.

I ordered this handmade First Day of School sign for my daughter's first day of third grade and it completely exceeded my expectations. I cannot say enough about this board! The first time I submitted the order, I realized after the fact that I messed up. I messaged the seller and she was so quick to respond and cancelled my first transaction so I could resubmit. Once I had the second order submitted, the order process went so quickly!
